The short answer to that question is: only your child can tell. But extra consideration is given for babies who breastfeed and for babies with teeth.
Babies who breastfeed may benefit from using a shape that promotes tongue placement and movement similar to breastfeeding. The symmetrical pacifier allows the sides of the tongue to elevate and latch around the nipple, just like breastfeeding. The symmetrical nipple is similar to the shape of the female breast and is therefore recommended to breastfed babies.
The round pacifier in comparison with the symmetrical, is more narrow were the lips meet.
The round shape is similar to the shape of most bottle nipples. If the child is used to drink from a bottle, there is a fairly big chance, they will love the Round one.
Once your baby’s teeth emerge, usually around six months, researchers suggests that orthodontic pacifiers are the preferred shape.Orthodontic pacifiers are designed to prevent tooth misalignment and orthodontic issues later in life.
